Lee Harvey Oswald May Not Be Innocent, But He’s Not the Shooter of JFK

The X’s on the street mark the two spots where JFK was shot.

According to the Federal Government’s Warren Commission report Lee Harvey Oswald shot our 35th President John F. Kennedy from the corner window on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository 50 years ago this year, on November 22, 1963. The prevailing claim is that Oswald was a discontented young man with Communist beliefs who wanted to make a name for himself by executing the United States President. He committed the Crime of the 20th century firing three shots from a manual bolt action Mannlicher Carcano rifle, striking JFK in the head in a moving car 265 feet from the window with the third and final shot. It’s what the Commission says happens next that thoroughly convinces me Oswald was not the killer and was probably never in the sniper’s nest, if anyone ever was.

This is what Director Oliver Stone had to say about the shooting from the 1991 movie, “JFK”:

The murder of President Kennedy has haunted me my entire life. I’ve read multiple books and articles on the subject. I have a copy of the Warren Commission abridged version. Also, Mark Lane’s Plausible Denial. I have a copy of Oliver Stone’s JFK and of A&E’s The Men Who Killed Kennedy documentary series. This is a subject I have studied. Last Friday February 15th while on a trip to Dallas for the AdvoCare Success School I took my first ever trip to Dealey Plaza and saw it all. I walked the Grassy Knoll, in front of and behind the fence. In crossing the Elm Street there, I managed to step on the marking the location of the fatal head shot. And I took the 90 minute tour of the Sixth Floor Museum in the former Texas School Book Depository Building. It was eye-opening, exciting, and allowed me to firmly come to grips with what I already strongly suspected, that the Warren Commission Report smelled like three-day old dead fish.

According to the Commission after firing the final fatal shot Oswald leaped from the snipers nest in the deep northwest corner of the building’s sixth floor. He then ran across the warehouse floor to the far southeast corner, traversing and evading stacks of book boxes in his flight. He then stashed the rifle in that far corner, out of sight, under some boxes. Since the so-called Oswald rifle was sent to the FBI Crime lab after the assassination and no finger prints were found on it we can assume Oswald also took time to wipe the weapon clean.

After stashing the gun the former Marine ran to the corner stairwell and descended four flights of stairs to the building’s lunch room where he is seen by Dallas Police Officer Marrion Baker and Building Manager Roy Truly. Baker said he reached the lunchroom and saw Oswald less than 2 minutes after the firing of the last shot. Eye witness testimony and a Warren Commission recreation of Baker’s actions determine that it was likely he reached the 2nd floor lunchroom in 1-minute 30-seconds at the most. In other words Oswald had to be in the lunchroom in 90 seconds after firing the last shot and according to Baker not out of breath as if he’d been running, “It didn’t appear that way to me. He appeared normal, ya know”.

It’s one thing to read or hear about an unlikely event. But when you place yourself in the exact same spot, you walk the same distance, and you use common sense the only conclusion one can have is that Oswald could not have made the trip in the 90-seconds or less necessary to reach the 2nd floor lunch room where he was seen by two people; much less without being out of breath. Video and photography are not allowed in the Sixth Floor Museum, so demonstrating this to you is not possible. You’ll just have to take my word. On my visit I discovered the floor and the building was a much larger space than I had always imagined. The reconstructed snipers nest was much tighter and hard to extricate one-self from than I imagined, as well.

Sniper's Nest

Sniper’s Nest

Book Depository employee Bonnie Ray Williams told the Warren Commission that LHO ate lunch in the 2nd floor lunch room from around noon until 12:15, perhaps even until 12:20. Oswald was seen in the lunchroom shortly prior to the shooting and immediately afterward. Based on what I saw, you must conclude he was there for the duration. When you read the forensic investigation of Oswald’s specific actions and that of Police Officer Baker‘s here on www.ratical.org you get a very clear alibi for Lee Harvey Oswald, who has unfairly gone down in history as the evil lone nut assassin of a beloved President.

Oswald definitely acted suspiciously after the shooting. Slowly and deliberately, but immediately leaving the scene, returning to his rented home (supposedly to retrieve a revolver) and then going to see a movie. He was arrested less than 90 minutes after the slaying at the Texas Theater. And while in front of the reporters at the Dallas Police station the next day he didn’t claim credit as you would think for someone desperately wanting to make a name for himself. He also didn’t completely claim non-involvement. He said, “I am just a patsy”. A strange thing to say for someone who thought themselves completely innocent and uninvolved. So I am left to conclude that Oliver Stone was right in what he postulated in JFK-the movie. Oswald was involved, possibly as a spy against the assassination plot. He was waiting in the lunch room after being told by his handlers to wait for a phone call there. He retrieved his gun because he feared danger, knowing his involvement, and he reported to the Texas Theater as a meeting place that had been pre-arranged.

I’m not sure of Stone’s other theories around the killing. But I stood behind the fence on the Grassy Knoll and can tell you as a gun owner, it’s an easy shot from there. Certainly easier than from the 6th floor window a football-field away.

This is the present day view of the area behind the fence on the Grassy Knoll. A much more likely place for a shooter to have killed JFK

It’s 50-years later and many will say or think, who cares? But when the elected leader of the most powerful nation on the planet can be eliminated without journalistic investigation and without the exercise of criminal justice we are left, not with democracy or representative government. We’re left with fascism, just like Kevin Costner says in the movie.

The killing of John Kennedy was done by powerful people; powerful enough to set-up Lee Harvey Oswald, get Oswald assassinated by Jack Ruby, powerful enough to keep Ruby silent and powerful enough to control the story there after. Kennedy conspiracy author Mark Lane wrote the very first definitive challenge of the Warren Commission report called Rush to Judgement. Later he wrote Plausible Denial. He inferred that operatives within the government were involved, specifically the CIA. New Orleans Parish District Attorney Jim Garrison, played by Kevin Costner in the JFK movie,

fought allegations that the New Orleans Mob or Mafia had anything to do with it and pointed his finger of suspicion at the CIA.

Adolph Hitler said “The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed.”. The many lies and manipulations of this story lead me to conclude that CIA leaders had to be involved. And chances are they learned from this nearly disastrous experience (for them) and applied their lessons elsewhere (i.e. Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, Watergate) Abraham Zapruder being in Dealey Plaza that day with a motion-picture camera was not something they planned on. Such cameras were extremely rare in November 1963, unlike today when everybody has such capabilities in the cheapest cell-phone. The Zapruder film provided so much information that would otherwise have been completely lost and beyond our reach. With it, and with our technology today, a working stop watch and some common sense while standing at the scene of the crime we the people don’t have to sit idly by and let powerful people destroy democracy and rule by executive committee. But YOU must care first.

Oswald Did Not Shoot JFK!

The sixth floor corner window of the Texas School Book Depository Building

The sixth floor corner window of the Texas School Book Depository Building

THE crime of the 20th Century was without a doubt the killing of this nation’s President in Dallas 50 years ago this year. John F. Kennedy was shot twice, once in the head, while riding through Dealey Plaza in that Texas city November 22, 1963. The first official government investigation of the shooting determined that former Marine Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots from the corner sixth floor window of the Texas School Book Depository Building, hitting JFK with those two shots. They determined that Oswald acted alone; that there was no conspiracy. This remains the prevailing story of the government and history.

After walking all over Dealey Plaza and the sixth and seventh floor of the museum that now exists in the downtown Dallas building where Oswald was employed I’m here to tell you the story is a complete lie. A fabrication with no truth to it at all. And what’s most disturbing is how pervasive the lie is, how accepted it is, and how nobody of prominence has ever walked the simple steps I walked to determine, as I have, that Lee Harvey Oswald could not have done what the Warren Commission and other subsequent investigations claim he did. And my fear is that if it could happen once it could happen again; and probably already has.

The 50th Anniversary of the Crime of the (Last) Century will undoubtedly bring out much about this story and many conspiracy theories. We’ll hear about the Grassy Knoll and Oswald in New Orleans, the CIA, the Mafia, Fidel Castro and a few others I’ve forgotten about or don’t care to mention and give credence. I’ll offer a thought or two on what I think may have happened but ultimately I don’t know. I just know it didn’t happen as we’ve all been bush-whacked into believing.

The Zapruder film showing the murder of our 35th President gives all of us a definitive time frame in which we can see how long it took to fire the deadly shots. This first video shows the shooting with no commentary and in real-time (as best I can determine). It shows that the three shots were all fired in 6 seconds.

This is a higher quality version of the Zapruder film, slowed down and zoomed in.

As you probably know and can now see the final of three (supposedly) shots fired was the most accurate while also being the one in which the moving target was furthest away from the Texas School Book Depository. So we’re expected to believe that Oswald fired three shots from a manual bolt-action Mannlicher Carcano rifle in only 6 seconds, and the final furthest shot is the most accurate. A white “X” marks the spot in the street at Dealey Plaza where the fatal head shot occurred. It’s 265 feet, or 81 yards, from the window.

The location in the street at Dealey Plaza where Kennedy received the dealy head shot.

The location in the street at Dealey Plaza where Kennedy received the deadly head shot.

As unlikely or improbable as this scenario is, it’s not the basis for my utter disbelief in the Warren Commission’s claim that Oswald shot Kennedy from the 6th Floor of the Texas School Book Depository. No, my firm belief was solidified in concrete when I walked throughout the museum now occupying the 6th floor, and looked out the adjacent window as well as the upstairs (7th floor) window closest to the alleged sniper’s nest. My certainty comes not from an unlikelihood that Oswald could do the shooting, but from the impossibility of the timing involved in what happened after the shooting. My certainty is so much easier to explain and comprehend. And I’ll do it in my next blog.

I walked all over Dealey Plaza. Here, the Book Depository is in my background.

Immigration Reform Sounds Great, But Get It Right

English: Benjamin Franklin National Memorial i...

Benjamin Franklin National Memorial in the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Immigration Reform is finally front and center in our national debate, no thanks to a feckless President unwilling to show his hand in this controversial debate. A group of republican and democratic Senators have come forward with a framework for a bill they hope to write, then pass on to the GOP controlled House by Spring. It’s a noble effort that will only become law if priorities are straight. And so far I’ve not seen evidence that their priorities are straight. So far, the only priority I’ve seen bantered about is the news medias claim the Republicans might come on board due to their desire for Hispanic votes. How’s that sit with you for integrity?

Estimates place the number of illegal aliens in this country at 11 million persons. 40% of these immigrants came to the country legally and over-stayed their visas. 80% of these illegals came from Mexico or some Latin nation. All of them place heavy burdens on our countries resources; jobs, welfare, schools, hospitals, justice system, etc. It’s a blight on the country and a serious threat to both economic recovery and deficit spending. And unless the problem is solved there is no hope of it getting better. It will only get worse. So some compromise, in the spirit of Benjamin Franklin, seems in order.

One of our countries greatest statesmen was the Philadelphia printer who almost singlehandedly brought the French into the Revolutionary War, and through an established aura pressed authors of our Federal Constitution to accord. The 81-year old Franklin urged his fellow delegates to the 1787 Constitutional Convention to be willing to sacrifice, not their principles, but their overwhelming urge to be right.

Franklin said that day that through his long life, he had often been forced

“by better information or fuller consideration to change opinions . . . which I once thought right, but found to be otherwise. It is therefore that the older I grow, the more apt I am to doubt my own judgment, and to pay more respect to the judgment of others.”

Details of the proposed immigration reform plan can be read in detail here, in the ABC News story: Details of the Immigration Plan.

What has always been the sticking point is what to do with the 11-million illegals already in this country. Hard liners insist they not get “amnesty”. But lets face it. Such a stance is both un-American and cruel. Americans grant amnesty all the time. It was written into the Constitution that Franklin worked so hard on. But Liberal Democrats have never wanted to face the reality of Republican priorities first: secure the border and remove the magnets. Granting illegals a path to citizenship is absolutely fine with me. But first things first. The border must be secured and allowing illegals to suck-up every welfare and entitlement program this country offers will not diminish the uncontrolled flow of illegal immigrants into this country. It will, in fact, accelerate it.

I’ve never understood why Democrats failed to understand that the jobs and benefits taken by illegals more drastically affect people who statistically tend to be Democratic voters. When you employ a Spanish-speaking person to cook your hamburgers, lay your carpet or install your new roof you aren’t taking a job from some college educated intellectual. You are taking a job from the least educated in our society, and far too often that person is black. When you provide a Section 8, or welfare home, to an illegal Mexican family you aren’t shutting out that home from a Stanford University grad and their kids. The American family who needs the warmth and security of that shelter is poor and ill-educated.

The current compromise proposal calls for more border agents and security monitoring using unmanned drones before any amnesty is granted. This sounds like a step in the right direction. It also proposes stream-lining the legal immigration process to make it easier to come into this country than the current nightmarish system. It also allows for more immigrants to legally come during times of economic growth and slow immigration during times of no or slow growth. Again, good ideas.

American Civil Liberties Union

The American Civil Liberties Union, or ACLU, has already come out against a registration plan allowing background checks for employers to see if potential new hires are legal residents in this country. They have an excellent point. A national ID card program, which this plan would certainly require, is an infringement on the implied Constititional right to privacy. But the problem can be easily solved by making the Federal Background check program and registration voluntary. If employers choose not to use it and are found to have hired illegals penalize them with such severe consequences that they would be unwise to not use it.

At the turn of the 20th Century and just before, this country was being overwhelmed by new immigrants. But at that time you were not allowed into this country without a sponsor and without a desirable skill. That too would seem to be a standard in our own national interests.

I don’t expect this bill to go anywhere. Because while I hope and expect Republicans to compromise on the “path to citizenship” issue; I expect Democrats to use the poor Hispanics/Latinos in this country as they continue to use the blacks in this country as political footballs with which to perpetually bash the GOP and subsequently remain in power. It’s not solutions they want. They’ll paint the Republicans reasonable positions regarding border security first as too tough and inhumane. And in doing so the complicit media will again drive more Latinos into the hands of their overseers, the Democratic party.

Why Can’t We Realize SH*T Happens?

English: This is the semi-automatic civilian v...

20 people, 16 kids, are shot and killed in Connecticut. A horrible crime perpetrated by a mentally challenged young man who got hold of his mother’s legally bought and owned guns. Prior to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School the killer (we won’t mention his name here, ever) killed his mother at their home. And around the country voices are heard screaming, “We must do something! We can’t let this happen again”.  My question is, why? Why do we have to do something?

Sandy Hook Elementary Memorial

Sandy Hook Elementary Memorial

This country is a reactionary country and no politician has ever met a tragedy they wouldn’t or couldn’t exploit. But just like the bumper sticker I’m going say, “Shit Happens“.  I’m sorry if that sounds insensitive. I’m just as hurt and was emotionally troubled by the killing last December 14, 2012 as most people. It sickened me. I prayed and asked others to pray. The idea of all those young children being senselessly shot caused me tears and frustration. But ultimately as a country why scream, “Something must be done!” Why?

Why can’t we accept the fact that this killer had a mother who devoted her life to her son, tried the best she could but ultimately this 20-year-old kid was too much for her and was crazy and finally went off; and he did this horrible crime? Why can’t we accept the fact that we can’t stop every crazed killer from killing? If they want to kill and die they’re going to do so and we are not going to be able to stop them. Shit Happens.

The Connecticut killer stole legally purchased weapons from his mother. The Colorado movie theater killer bought his weapons after passing the legally required background check allowing him to do so. The Portland Mall shooter (from the same week as Sandy Hook) used a stolen weapon. No Assault Weapons Ban or criminal background check stopped these killers, nor would any new legislation along similar lines.

One of the photographs of Seung-Hui Cho that he sent to NBC News on the day of the massacre

The Virginia Tech massacre of 2007 also involved a crazy man. Seung-Hui Cho (age 23) shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others. And he did it using hand guns which would never have been banned under the previous or currently proposed assault weapons ban. The Federal Assault Weapons Ban signed by President Bill Clinton on September 13, 1994 lasted ten years before expiring. We’re not talking about a few months or a couple of years. The ban was in effect for ten years. And yet, nearly every study of it found it ineffective in deterring or diminishing gun violence.

FBI mugshot of Timothy McVeigh.

FBI mugshot of Timothy McVeigh.

Timothy McVeigh didn’t even need a gun to commit his horrible crime. He just needed a U-Haul truck and some fertilizer. McVeigh’s 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City killed 168 people and injured 800 more. No gun was used. Until he detonated his improvised bomb no law had been broken. And no law should exist that prohibits the purchase of fertilizer and the renting of a U-Haul truck. We all just have to accept, Shit Happens.

One week after the Sandy Hook shooting the NRA responded by proposing that every school in this country should be staffed by an armed, trained, security guard. They were roundly criticized by the anti-gun crowd and do you know why? Those lobbying for a greater number of 2nd Amendment infringements said of the National Rifle Associations proposal that it would “cost too much”. Really? Cost too much? How’s that for hypocrisy? President Obama has said repeatedly, including this week during his Press Conference on Monday, that “If there is one step we can take to save one child’s life then we should do it”. I guess he should have added, “unless we’re talking about spending real money”.

The City of Chicago was sighted by the President as the model for gun laws throughout the United State‘s. Chicago led the nation last year with over 500 murders, most of them by guns. Democrats don’t really want to do anything about problems with guns. They just want to appear to a naive public that they are doing something, while they can wink and nod at the gun lobby who helps them pass useless and toothless legislation to placate that ignorant public.

The fact is tragedies like the Sandy Hook massacre will happen and short of repealing the 2nd Amendment and taking away all our guns they’ll happen again. Shit Happens. But the 2nd Amendment won’t be repealed any time in my lifetime because too many Americans have guns, over 310 million guns are known to be owned in the U.S. by law-abiding citizens. It’s a practical impossibility to somehow think you’re going to get them all, or anything close to them all.

We need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill. Period. End of discussion. Find out how to do that and most Americans will shout “Hallelujah”.

Fear the Mob Mentality and Vigilante Justice

English: Anonymous Español: Anonymous

The internet hacking group Anonymous has posted a video showing members of the Steubenville (OH) High School football team laughing and joking about the rape of a sixteen year old girl by members of their team, and apparently individuals appearing in the video. And Anonymous has posted a threat to “those responsible” and school officials who supposedly protected some of the suspected culprits. Let me be clear Anonymous is threatening people who were not present and had nothing to do with the rape.

The rape occurred August 22, 2012. The girl was drugged, sexually assaulted and transported by the group of football players from party to party where she was photographed and raped repeatedly. Two members of the football team were charged with rape of a minor. But rumors persisted that many more teen boys were involved.

We post the video here with the warning: This video contains extremely crude language. And you are advised that if you have a problem with the efforts by Anonymous to promote this vigilante justice, then you shouldn’t watch this video.

The problem with Anonymous is their efforts indict, at least in public opinion, almost every kid on the Steubenville High School football team whether they were involved in the rape or not. Anonymous and others who engage in vigilantism have made themselves Judge, Jury, and possibly Executioner. They are fomenting a mob-mentality that in the end can only be bad.

4_7_12 March for Justice for Trayvon Martin-12

4-7-12 March for Justice for Trayvon Martin

One need look no further than the Trayvon Martin case to see the ill effects of what a mob frenzy will do. I wrote a blog called “Trayvon Martin’s Killer Should be Punished, Right?” on March 28, 2012; a tongue-in-cheek effort to point out how the mob mentality drove police and local prosecuting attorneys to reverse their initial, and seemingly correct, decision not to bring murder charges to the teen’s killer George Zimmerman. As I wrote in my blog “Trayvon Martin beat his Killer” and as has become apparent through released photographs and doctor’s testimony since the frenzy that caused the arrest there is more than a little evidence to verify Zimmerman’s claim that he shot Martin in order to protect his own life.

George Zimmerman

George Zimmerman

I don’t know if Zimmerman is guilty or not, but I think NOT is far more likely. And since I took the heat for my earlier blogs questioning the mob indictment of this poor little man, Zimmerman, I won’t feel the least bit of problem proclaiming “I told you so” when his trial results in his acquittal.

I don’t know if more kids were involved in the Steubenville rape. I don’t know if the primary trash talkers in the video aren’t the two individuals who were charged in the case. I don’t like the laughing being done in the video by several other KIDS. I can’t emphasize enough I’m disgusted by the behavior of those in the video and I believe anyone who was present, eye witness to and cheering on the rape of the girl needs to face criminal prosecution. But regarding those in the video I know laughing is not against the law. Nor is being stupid. At least, it’s not currently against the law. The wave of ugly political correctness that covered this country like a blanket in the 1990s never fully went away. So laws forbidding laughing at crude humor may be just around the corner.

I’m sure Anonymous feels fully justified and righteous in trying to expose the guilty in this horrible crime perpetrated against a young girl. And I sincerely hope those responsible face justice. But I also pray innocents are not swept up in the wave Anonymous is trying to generate. I fear they will be. Just like before.
